About Jerry
Jerry is running to represent Lincoln County’s important needs in the South Dakota House of Representatives. Following in the footsteps of his friend and mentor, former District 6 Representative and Senator Herman Otten, Jerry will stand up for Lincoln County in the Legislature.
Republican House candidate Jerry Jongeling is a native of the Tea-Lennox area and has deep roots in the community. Dedicated to his community and industry, Jerry serves as vice chair of the Lincoln County Planning and Zoning Commission, is a board member of Heartland Energy, board member of the South Dakota Municipal Electric Association, and a committee member of the South Dakota Electrical Council. He is also a partner in a custom home building business based in Tea.
He holds an associate’s degree in electrical construction and maintenance from Mitchell Technical Institute. He worked for over 14 years in commercial electrical construction, advancing from apprentice to management, where he helped launch dedicated service and industrial departments. He has also held electrical contractor licenses in multiple states. In 2014, Jerry joined the City of Sioux Falls as the Light, Power and Traffic Superintendent, where he has led projects to improve reliability and efficiency.
Jerry is married to Alecia, and together they have two incredible children—Carter (22), who serves in the Air National Guard, and Alyssa (18), who is currently a student at Tea Area High School. The family enjoys hunting, taking care of their horses, and exploring South Dakota.
